Does Composite Bonding Hurt?
As a dental practice, there are so many tips, tricks and techniques we can use to help enhance your smile, build your confidence and even improve your oral health. Today, we’re focusing on composite bonding – a process that can create bright, uniform teeth.
How does composite bonding treatment work?
A putty-like substance, which is a kind of dental resin, is applied to the teeth and skilfully shaped – the reason the treatment is often recommended for those with chipped teeth. The colour of the putty is closely matched to your smile but can give you an overall lift. Once carefully moulded in place, a UV light is used to harden this resin.
Is composite bonding treatment painful?
No – and no preparation of the teeth is required beforehand, either (unlike alternatives like veneers, which call for the teeth to be gently filed before replacement teeth ‘caps’ can be placed). We’ll also do all we can to keep you comfortable throughout the process.
How long does treatment take?
It’s hard to gauge without knowing your circumstances and how many teeth require treatment, but we’d say between 30 minutes to 1 hour to allow plenty of time.
Do I need to redo my composite bonding treatment?
Yes, because while treatment is long-lasting, it won’t last forever. Having regular dental check-ups is ideal, as we can spot when the resin might need replacing. Generally speaking, it should last a few years with the right oral care and with regular visits to the dentist’s chair.
Is it safe to do?
Of course. We only ever carry out safe, approved practices that our team are fully trained and qualified to perform. This gives our patients peace of mind and is one of the reasons we’ve built a reputation for care and excellence in the area.
Does composite bonding affect other treatments?
It’s usually best to have other treatments before composite bonding, for example, Invisalign braces. Bear in mind that the resin can’t be lightened by teeth whitening treatments, either. This is why we ask our patients to attend a consultation here in Pontefract – so we can be sure of your needs, and advise you on relevant treatments to have to bring out the best in your smile (and when to have them).
How do I book my composite bonding treatment?
It’s easy – visit our contact page for up-to-date details and opening times, and we’ll arrange a consultation at our Pontefract dental practice to suit you.
