How Long Does Composite Bonding Last
Got questions about composite bonding? Our team will be happy to help. Here in Pontefract, our professional dentists regularly carry out this transformative treatment, resulting in happy, bright smiles. Find out more about the process, pros and cons, results, and more in today’s blog post.
What is composite bonding?
Many of our patients have heard of composite bonding, but know little about it. And some have never come across it before, and don’t even realise it’s an option for them. Composite bonding is a way to help lighten your smile and enhance the profile of your teeth, giving you a low-maintenance makeover that’s also minimally invasive.
How does composite bonding work?
You’ll first have a consultation at our Pontefract dental practice, to ensure this treatment is suitable for you. Next, when going ahead with the appointment, we’ll prepare your smile and get everything ready. A soft putty is applied to your teeth, shaped into position and then set under a special UV light. This helps your results last.
What can I expect from my results?
You should experience a brighter smile that’s more uniform – fewer chips and dents in the teeth and closed gaps in the smile by covering them. Composite Bonding results can last, on average, around 7 years, but some patients experience at least 10 years. It does depend on how you care for your smile, however – and bad habits, such as pen chewing, can of course damage your results.
What alternatives can I try?
You can achieve similar results with different treatments, for example:
– Invisalign braces for closing gaps in the smile
– Veneers for covering unsightly teeth
– Teeth whitening for a brighter smile overall
We may even recommend treatments alongside your initial treatment for the best results.
Does composite bonding hurt?
No, although we do understand that some people have especially sensitive teeth, or can be fearful of the dentist. We’ll work with you to create a comfortable, relaxed treatment and fantastic results you’ll love for years to come.
What are the drawbacks of composite bonding?
We don’t find there are any. All it takes is some getting used to – which might take a couple of days – and you’re free to enjoy results well into the future. It’s a great investment for your smile – as well as your confidence.
How do I book composite bonding treatment?
It’s available right here at our Pontefract dental practice. All you need to do is give us a call, email or book online and we’ll arrange a consultation around your calendar. We’ll get to know your dental history, assess your smile and make recommendations, and talk you through aftercare too. We hope to see you here in Pontefract very soon.
